With an eye for a bold statement, Chanel’s creative
director, Karl Lagerfeld, conducted somewhat of a geography lesson, at Chanel’s
recent fashion show for Fall/Winter 2013-14, and attempted total global
domination of the well-heeled with money to spend.
Crowds of A-listers gathered in the heart of Paris, at the
Grand Palais, to fix their eyes on an enormous globe slowly rotating in the
centre of Chanel’s circular catwalk, with flags that beared the famous ‘CC’ to
show the locations where the luxury label’s stores reside. Whilst remaining in
awe of the sight, the crowd settled and an impeccable cascade of silhouettes
appeared, walking in the same direction as the globes rotation.
The collection was mainly based on shades of black, which
wasn’t a surprise for Chanel. However, Lagerfeld incorporated radiance and
shine through the innovative use of metallic brilliance and flare. This
aesthetically pleasing feature was also clearly reflected in the design of the
globe, as it featured specks of gold that illuminated the countries.
The crowd surely witnessed one of the most unique and
spectacular Chanel fashion shows to date. There is no denying that Lagerfeld
successfully possessed a crowd pleaser that displayed a sure sign of world domination within a haute couture
platform.
Stay lovely,
Love From Emily x
